What is it that makes a Smart home smart? At this stage I also don’t know, but I’m going to take a journey and find out. Hopefully will I get wiser as I make stops at various places and bring the solutions and not the hype to this blog.

Growing up on a rural sheep farm in the middle of South Africa, I remember that I always have this interest for what I call usable technology. I think it is the isolation of farm live and to experience the struggle of my dad to get things to work with minimal resources and money, that has inspired me to find usable and cost effective technology that will make peoples live easier.

Here I seek to find usable technology for Smarthomes that can be implemented practically and cost effective.

With this I mean that:

  • you must be able to use it in an existing home with out major alterations
  • it should make your live easier and you shouldn’t need to sell your car to get money for your Smarthome
  • Another big must is that all the systems should seamlessly talk to each other

Please join me on this journey and feel free to give feedback and ask questions as much as you want. I will be with you all the way.

So enjoy, like and follow me on this epic journey.
